A cleanser dissolves what sits on top of the skin. It does very little about the plug already hardened inside the pore. That is the job these do - and they do it best in the two minutes after you steam.
Why it works
Most people use these on a dry nose, get nothing, and decide strips are a gimmick. The order matters more than the strip does.
The strip's adhesive layer is what does the work - it grips the hardened plug rather than the skin around it, which is why it lifts something out instead of just stinging.
Two minutes of steam softens the plug and opens the pore. A strip on skin prepared that way pulls out things you can see on the backing. On cold, dry skin it pulls out almost nothing.
Peeling is an aggressive thing to do to a nose. Peeling slowly from the edges inward, then rinsing with cool water, is what keeps skin from being left tight and red afterwards.
These pull. Used daily they will leave the skin irritated and the pores no cleaner. Two sessions a week, with days in between, is where the results actually are.
How to use them
Buyers who left us a bad review nearly all made the same mistake at step one.
Wetter than feels necessary. This is the step people rush, and it is the whole difference between a strip that lifts and a strip that peels off clean.
Smooth it from the middle out and press the edges into the creases beside the nostrils. Any lifted edge will dry first and come away early.
Ten to fifteen minutes. It should feel like cardboard, not like paper. If it is still flexible it has not finished its job.
Slowly. Then rinse with cool water and carry straight on with serum - the pore is open and this is the best moment of the week to put something in it.

Strips are the most misused thing we sell. If you are not sure they are right for your skin, ask us before you order.
Ask a questionAlmost always one of two things. Either the nose was not wet enough - this is the single most common mistake, and it needs to be properly wet, not damp - or your pores are simply small and there was not much in them. Neither is a fault in the strip. Try again straight after a hot shower or two minutes of steam.
Twice a week at most, with days in between. These work by pulling, and skin needs the recovery time. Using one every day will leave you with an irritated nose and pores no cleaner than before.
At twice a week, 50 pcs is about six months. 100 pcs is close to a year and works out at about 35 cents a strip. They keep indefinitely as long as the sachets stay sealed, so the larger pack is only a bad idea if you are still deciding whether strips suit your skin at all.
That is the pairing we would actually recommend. Steam for two minutes, then apply the strip while the pore is still open and the plug is soft. It is a noticeably different result from using a strip cold.
Skip these. They are made for oily skin with visible pores, and on dry skin they take off surface skin rather than anything inside the pore. If you are on retinoids or acids, skip them entirely - your skin is already shedding faster than a strip should be pulling.
